Bergen City Bike

In July 2018, we launched Bergen’s first permanent, year-round city bicycle scheme with 76 stations and 400 bicycles. Bergen City Bike has proven to be hugely popular, with a million yearly rides distributed among 40 000 city cyclists. In just under two years, the facility was extended to 101 stations and 1 000 city bikes. The bike-sharing system has been established through an excellent collaboration witBergen municipality.

The technology for bicycles, racks and locks are the same as in Trondheim, meaning that the lock is on the bike. This makes the system very flexible, with the possibility of pausing tours and geo-fencing of areas where a fixed stand is not possible.

Fyllingsdalen

In 2023, the Fyllingsdal Tunnel, the world’s longest pedestrian and bicycle tunnel, opened, connecting Mindemyren and Fyllingsdalen. Consequently, the bike-sharing system was expanded to include Fyllingsdalen. For the first time, we established virtual stations in Bergen.

Local Operations

Bergen Bike Share employs six full-time staff and operates a warehouse with a workshop located at Fabrikkgaten 7. Daily redistribution efforts are made to prevent both full and empty bike stations. Additionally, several mechanics are employed to repair and maintain the bikes, ensuring they can be used repeatedly.

For more information about the service, where you can find the stations and purchase a subscription, go to the Bergen City Bike website.
